INTRODUCTION TO SAFEGUARDING (Dorchester) + networking lunch

This course introduces safeguarding for VCS groups. This is an intermediary course for those requiring a fundamental knowledge of safeguarding (more than basic awareness).

With Dorset Council Communications & Engagement and Safeguarding Adult Care, delivered by CAN and supported by Dorchester Town Council.

Course Description

Anyone who works or volunteers with children, young people and/or adults must have the knowledge and skills needed to help keep them safe. This course introduces safeguarding for VCS groups. This is an intermediary course for those requiring a fundamental knowledge of safeguarding (more than basic awareness).

Learning Outcomes

Following this session, it is hoped participants will be able to:

  • Describe different types of abuse.
  • Describe what ‘safeguarding’ means.
  • Identify a range of safeguarding issues/concerns.
  • Describe what signs and symptoms to look out for
  • Recognise who might be affected by abuse and neglect.
  • Describe how and who to report a concern to
  • Share experiences and learn from peers.
  • Understand the importance and relevance of your Safeguarding Policy

Target Audience

All staff working within an organisation, staff who encounter children, young people and adults, whether in paid employment or as a volunteer.

A vegetarian lunch will be provided for networking afterwards (from 1 – 2pm).
