Dorset Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly (VCSA) –
Programme Manager/Director

Dorset’s Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Assembly is seeking to recruit a full time Programme Manager/Director to lead and manage the work of the Assembly across the county. This is an exceptional opportunity to join us in a newly created, lead role to shape and implement our strategic plan for Dorset’s VCS Assembly.

The Programme Manager/Director will engage with partners in the Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) and with the VCS to enable increased collaboration on common goals that improve the health and wellbeing of residents in Dorset.

We welcome and are seeking applications from individuals from all backgrounds.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking someone who will develop great relationships and connections built on trust, with all kinds of VCS organisations, groups, and individuals, and with leaders and representatives within the Integrated Care System (ICS).

We are looking for a person with sensitivity and integrity, who has a deep understanding of the VCS in Dorset and a wide experience of the sector; someone who is passionate and tenacious and is able to build consensus as well as champion minority voices.

We are looking for an advocate for the VCS across Dorset who will increase its resilience and impact across the county.

What they’ll do

The Programme Manager/Director will be managing the day-to-day operation of the Assembly with the Assembly’s Business Support Worker.

They will represent the VCS at system level in the ICP and within the Integrated Care Board (ICB), as well as overseeing the fair representation of the VCS in a range of other settings.

The Programme Manager/Director will increase awareness of issues that are experienced by the VCS, create stronger connections within the VCS, and facilitate increased networking and collaboration with partners and stakeholders from other sectors of the community.

The Programme Manager/Director will enable the work of the Assembly across the four operational areas of the VCSA: communications, networking and engagement, representation, and collaboration.

How they’ll do it

They will be expected to carry out their role, and the work of the Assembly, in a thoughtful, fair, trustworthy, and inclusive manner and uphold the values of the Assembly.

This is a new, exciting and challenging role that requires creativity, collaboration, leadership and management experience, along with a commitment to building trust and acting with fairness, founded on a passion for improving the lives of people in Dorset.
