The Home Library Service is for anyone who struggles to visit their library within the BCP Council area. This could be for any number of reasons such as disabilities, caring responsibilities, lack of affordable transport and more. They will happily refer people to the Dorset Council area library service as well.

The Home Library Service visit readers in their own homes and has agreements with local housing schemes and residential homes to provide books to their residents. At each visit, readers can ask Volunteers to bring specific books, though there may be a waiting list for the more popular titles.

The free, monthly delivery service offers:
• standard print books
• large print books
• audiobooks
• jigsaws
• and more…

They also provide a vital check-in for many readers who see very few people in their daily life. People can refer themselves to the service via the contact details below, or by contacting their local library. Family members, care workers and health professionals can also refer people, as long as they have permission to do so. Home Library Service currently have a team of over 60 volunteers delivering books across the BCP area, and is keen to welcome more. Contact them to find out more.
