Conversations about mental health through theatre

Published on 4 January, 2024

Conversations Through Theatre is an opportunity to take part in some free theatre workshops using Forum Theatre techniques; a form of theatre that encourages audience interaction and explores different options for dealing with a problem or issue.

Working alongside other participants and CoCreate theatre specialist Gemma Alldred, you will work together to devise and co-create a performance-workshop. If you are interested there may also be the opportunity to tour this to at least three other groups around BCP and Dorset. But don’t worry you don’t need to do this. In fact, you can just go along for one or more sessions, have fun and do something different.

You don’t need any prior theatre experience to take part, CoCreate will help you develop the skills you’d like to learn, and shape the project to the interests and abilities of the group as a whole.

For this project CoCreate are especially interested in working with those who have lived experience of poor mental health and/or mental illness.

CoCreate work accessibly and inclusively and before you take part  will ask you more about the things you need, to help you to take part fully in the activities.
