Empowering People: Trusted Reviewers Programme
What’s the project about?
The Trusted Reviewers Programme (TRP) is a brand-new initiative listening to peoples lived experience of accessing day opportunities in the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole area.
People living with learning and physical disabilities, older people and people living with mental health conditions should have greater control over their support and more opportunities to live fulfilling lives.
The project is a key element of the BCP Council’s Fulfilled Lives Programme and a commitment to championing person-centred care for everyone.

Our aims and approach
Changing the conversation: to break down barriers and promote social care personalisation. Trusted Reviewers act as champions, promoting the benefits of person-centred care and self-directed support to families, professionals, and the wider community.
Expanding opportunities: seeking out and connecting people to a wide variety of opportunities within the BCP area. Whether it’s volunteering, learning new skills, or simply socialising, these activities enrich lives and combat isolation.
Playing an active role in improving service delivery: part of strategic conversations, sharing what we learn to increase and diversify community-based daytime activities and support available. Linking with Direct Payments and personal budgets help people have more choice in their life.
Co-production: creating opportunities for people with lived experience, their carers and families to be part of the conversation.
Engagement in the community: promoting the change for people to get involved in the project through attending events, networking with other organisations, carers forums and other community groups.
Creating a legacy: recording and measuring our impact as we go, helping to evidence, inform and influence sustainable positive changes as part of BCP’s Personalisation Programme and wider strategic goals.

- Increase awareness and understanding of social care personalisation within the BCP area.
- Develop a sustainable model for empowering people that can be adopted long-term.
