Immanuel Church, Southbourne, a Vibrant Community Hub

Published on 14 May, 2024

Our Community Heroes in the Spotlight for June is Immanuel Church in Southbourne. This month’s theme is ‘Dementia Action’ and this wonderful organisation host numerous weekly activities for people living with Dementia and their carers.

They recently had Sue Warr from PramaLife deliver Dementia Awareness training to their volunteers, meaning appropriate support can be provided to visitors. Immanuel Church is also a community hub for services which support those with Dementia, their carers and the wider community.

Immanuel Church host:

  • A Foodbank, which operates 3 times a week
  • Citizens Advice
  • Seated exercise classes
  • Cycle Without Age.

The church also has a welcoming café called ‘Jubilatte’ (which means Rejoice) and is open to the public Monday – Friday from 9:30 am – 3 pm, serving light bites, and drinks.

The cafe is a great space for all community members to enjoy a healthy low-cost meal. The Café also offers a ‘Free Food Fridge’ and a variety of breads/pastries, collected from local supermarkets, free to take as needed.

Liz Carter from Immanuel Church was interviewed on Hope FM recently, along with our Engagement Lead, Hannah Rees. Listen here
