The HealthBus Trust, which operates a mobile clinic for people experiencing homelessness in the BCP area, has received The King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
It is one of 262 charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups to receive the prestigious award this year.
HealthBus Head of Fundraising and Marketing, Deano Pickering, said it is the “highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE”.
Deano said: “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped, partnered and supported us in championing our work across our community. We recognise that our work is a combined team effort with many organisations across varying sectors encouraging us with our mission.”
Representatives of HealthBus Trust will receive the award crystal and certificate from Angus Campbell, Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, in the summer. In addition, two volunteers from the HealthBus will attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
