Overcomers Outreach finds a new home and new skills

Overcomers Outreach (OO) has been on an incredible journey of growth, and CAN has been there to help them take some major steps forward.
OO secured an exciting new community centre in Pokesdown. CAN were able to support them directly by:

  • Lending an expert eye: Visiting the new site and providing guidance on essential areas, such as fire safety policy.
  • Making connections: Introducing them to a trusted electrician to help get the new space ready.
  • Promoting collaboration: Encouraging them to share their facilities with other local community groups, strengthening the entire ecosystem.

OO’s leadership have been dedicated to professional development and strengthening the organisation’s structure. CAN’s commitment to providing high-quality training enabled this progress:

  • Completed an Organisational Health Check, giving OO a clear roadmap for future improvements.
  • Attended five CAN training sessions and gained their Level 1 Safeguarding Certificate through CAN’s programme

By leveraging the training and guidance provided by CAN, Overcomers Outreach achieved several significant goals:

  • Stronger governance: Registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC)
  • Robust policies: Developed a constitution and key operational policies, including Safeguarding and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
  • Securing investment: Awarded an Awards for All grant and a £4,000 Wessex Water fund award.
