The Volunteering Matters update – news, views, and stories to inspire social action!
Do you need volunteers?
We’re working in partnership with Bournemouth University to help their 1,700 staff get involved in community volunteering – could they help you? We’ll be getting alongside staff to find volunteer opportunities that are tailored to their skills, interests, motivations, and availability. If you have any short-term projects, forthcoming fundraising events, gardening or conservation projects, Christmas activities, team projects etc. they can get involved in, please send details to amy.collins@can100.org. With over 1700 BU staff members, we have an amazing opportunity to assist them in engaging with our community, so let’s make the most of it!
Advertising your volunteer opportunities
Advertising on our Volunteer Hub (Team Kinetic) is quick and easy. We have new volunteers registering and searching for roles every day. Are your roles registered with us? Would you like to learn how to use our online Volunteer Hub? Then join our online session on ‘How to Use Team Kinetic’ from 10 am to 11 am on Thursday 30th November. Book your place here.
Safeguarding training for your volunteers
If you have volunteers new in post, that are potentially working with children, young people or adults at risk, we would like to invite them to our online ‘Introduction to Safeguarding’ webinar from 10am to 11am on 5th January 2024. Get more information and book here.

Prevent awareness for volunteers
Help your volunteers confidently identify potential risks of radicalisation and is for anyone working or volunteering with members of the public regularly. It’s free and all online via the Government website. To accompany this, we have put together a short Prevent for volunteers guide which you may like to share with them as part of their induction programme or ongoing training.
