COAST is a supported employment service delivered by Tricuro and funded by BCP Council. COAST work alongside individuals to understand their goals, interests, and aspirations. They support adults with a wide range of needs, including:
• Learning disabilities
• Autism
• Mental health conditions
• Physical disabilities
• Sensory impairments
• Long-term health conditions
• Neurodiverse individuals
Many of the people they support have faced barriers to work, low confidence, social isolation, or previous negative experiences within education or employment. They may also experience barriers created by inaccessible environments, a lack of understanding, and prejudice or misconceptions about disability and difference, which can prevent them from having equal opportunities to participate in work and community life.
People can access COAST through self-referral, and will be invited to attend induction sessions, where they will learn about the service and explore available opportunities. Initially, people join 16-week supported work experience placements, facilitated by COAST’s Vocational Project Lead Team in real work environments, with local partner community organisations.

Through this supported work experience placement, J builds practical skills and contributes to a valuable community service.
These placements provide the opportunity to build confidence, develop transferable skills, and gain practical workplace experience in a supportive environment. They also help COAST understand an individual’s strengths, interests, and support needs so they can identify the most appropriate next steps on their employment journey.

M gains valuable experience and new skills by volunteering in a cafe.
Each person receives regular one-to-one support as they work towards employment, volunteering, or training outcomes, with support and guidance provided throughout their journey.
Support can include:
• Vocational profiling and career planning
• Job searching and applications
• CV and covering letter support
• Interview preparation
• Employer engagement and job matching
• Work experience placements
• Volunteering opportunities
• Training and skills development
• Travel training and confidence building
• In-work support once employment is secured
COAST work closely with local employers, charities, community organisations, colleges, and support services to create meaningful opportunities for the people they support.
They’re always keen to hear from:
• Local businesses willing to offer work experience or employment opportunities
• Voluntary and community organisations interested in developing supported placements
• Employers committed to inclusive recruitment
• Organisations able to provide workplace visits, taster sessions or volunteering opportunities
• Community partners who would like to work with us to support local people
Laura from COAST says: ‘We’re proud to support local people to overcome barriers, build confidence, and take positive steps towards employment and community participation. We believe that inclusive communities are stronger communities, and are grateful to the many employers and organisations who work alongside us to make this possible.”
