Introduction to Safeguarding

Get a basic understanding of safeguarding.

Anyone who works or volunteers with children, young people, or adults has a responsibility to help keep them safe. This introductory course is designed for volunteers and staff who need a basic understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what safeguarding means
  • Identify different types of abuse and neglect
  • Recognise signs and symptoms of potential harm
  • Understand who might be affected by abuse and neglect
  • Know how and who to report concerns to
  • Identify a range of safeguarding issues and concerns
  • Share experiences and learn from others in similar roles.
