Being a trustee – Keeping me alert and active

Keeping me Alert and Active…

… you may think that’s a strange way for me to start a short paragraph about why I so much enjoy being a Trustee.

I have lived and worked with passion in the wider Voluntary and Community Sector all my life and through all the many challenging and loving experiences..and my goodness there are so many! I can say with an honest and true heart that I earnestly believe that our sector is such an integral affirming and positive part of wider civic society. Thousands depend on us daily and we rise to the opportunities whatever the financial or political climate.

Part of my ongoing contribution working as I currently do for AGE UK in the London Borough of Lambeth does indeed enliven me and yes keeps me very much on my toes. I enjoy my job and all the diverse activities and persons with whom I engage.

Being Chair of Trustees for CAN, a vibrant and widely loved infrastructure organisation, allows me even greater entry into trying to achieve societal wellbeing.

The collaboration between an enthusiastic Board of Trustees and a focused, diligent operational team, led professionally with commitment by an equally enthusiastic CEO adds to the joy I get from being part of what our sector offers.

That sense of knowing that in my own way, working with others, smiling through moments of real highs and with it at times real lows, I am able to make a difference to the lives of individuals, enhancing their humanity and contribution to life, brings me as I say real pleasure.

And yes, it does keep me very much alert and active.

Happy Trustees Week!
