Moving towards Net Zero

Climate change affects us all, but through climate action we can work towards a healthier and more sustainable future for everyone.

Whether you work in health and wellbeing, with young or older people, supporting local communities or tackling inequalities and working with marginalised groups; our lives, our work and our communities require a stable climate.

The climate crisis impacts the poor and vulnerable the most, globally and in the UK. As climate change increases, the impact on vulnerable people and communities will accelerate.

Already, older people are dying from extreme heat and colder winters. Many households can’t afford to protect their homes from flooding. Colder weather means higher energy bills, making life harder for people with less income. More extreme weather will affect farming, causing food prices to rise.

We can choose a different future for Dorset, where our most vulnerable communities can benefit from a greener, more sustainable way of life. A future of warmer homes, better public transport, locally sourced and healthier foods, more secure, skilled jobs and a resilient local economy.

In taking climate action, charities and community groups will become more resilient, while helping to protect those most affected by climate change.

Going Green Together’s mission

Supporting voluntary organisations, community groups and charities across Dorset to take climate action.

The plan

Our members asked for support to understand the climate crisis and how to take action.

The ‘Going Green Together’ forum will work together to build a climate action movement within the voluntary and community sector in Dorset, take action on the climate emergency, support nature and biodiversity and transition to a carbon-free future.

Embed sustainability in your actions

Going Green Together meet regularly and welcomes new attendees; keep an eye on our upcoming Networks, Forums & Events or become a member to get updates by email.
