Job Title: Parent Carer Panel Co-ordinator (Dorset council service area)
Reporting to: CEO
Remuneration: TBA £21,000-£25,000 WTEh plus travel expenses
Contract: Part-Time, Flexible Working 10 hours per week
Length of Contract: Fixed-Term Contract until 31 March 2026
Due to the varied nature of the duties, a flexible approach will be required which may on occasion, include evenings and weekends. Time off in lieu may be taken following agreement of the line manager. Please feel free to discuss any flexible working requests at interview.
Place of work: This post is based from home, with travel across localities within Dorset County Council area.
Holiday entitlement: Accrual based on hours worked.
Probationary Period: There is a 1 month probationary period for this position
Car allowance: 45p mileage can be claimed for any travel due to DorPIP business
Period of notice: One months’ notice from either the associate or the organisation is required.

DorPIP (Dorset Parent Infant Partnership), is an established and rapidly growing charity specialising in the emotional needs of parents, pre and post birth and their babies during their first two years of life.
We are leading an exciting new initiative aiming to empower parents and carers, providing them with the skills and confidence to shape services for families across Dorset. The PCP Co-ordinator will be pivotal in delivering this project, managing all aspects of the panel’s development, supporting parent carers, and ensuring the project’s long-term sustainability beyond March 2026.
Our Parent Carer Panel (PCP) Coordinator role offers a unique opportunity to lead a project that places parent carers at the heart of decision-making. This role will support the development of inclusive and empowering spaces where voices are heard, valued, and acted upon. You will be responsible for planning, organising, and facilitating Parent Carer Panel events, ensuring they are welcoming, accessible, and inclusive. From managing venue bookings and refreshments to coordinating online training opportunities,
your role will help create a vibrant and supportive community of parents and carers.
You will work closely with the DorPIP, Dorset Council and the VCSE in Dorset to collect data, communicate outcomes, and promote the forum’s impact. This includes keeping accurate records, maintaining clear communication across accessible digital platforms, and contributing to project reports.

Purpose of the role
As a PCP Co-ordinator Parent Carer Panel (PCP) Coordinator you will create and support a safe, inclusive space where parent carers can come together, share their experiences, and influence local services. By coordinating regular panel events, providing training and mentorship, and building trusted relationships, the role aims to empower parent carers to take on leadership roles and advocate for lasting change within their communities.
Main Responsibilities
- Project Coordination
- Plan, organise, and facilitate Parent Carer Panel events.
- Manage venue bookings, refreshments, and necessary equipment.
- Collect and manage data, attendance records, and registration forms.
- Coordinate and promote accessible training opportunities, including online sessions.
- Support the development of a sustainable parent carer forum.
- Recruitment and Engagement
- Recruit diverse and inclusive parent carer representation for the panel.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with participants.
- Encourage and support parent carers to take on leadership roles.
- Training and Mentorship
- Develop and deliver training sessions for parent carers.
- Signpost to additional resources to support skill-building and confidence.
- Mentor parent carers to effectively represent their views and attend meetings.
- Communication and Reporting
- Maintain regular communication through accessible digital platforms (e.g., WhatsApp).
- Provide regular updates and outcome reports to DorPIP and funders.
- Work collaboratively with the admin team on marketing and report preparation.
- Sustainability and Legacy
- Empower parent carers to take ownership of the forum.
- Identify and nurture emerging leaders within the group to ensure long-term impact.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed
- Experience in group facilitation, community engagement, or similar roles
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence using digital tools (e.g. WhatsApp, Zoom, email)
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends
- Experience working with parent carers or in family support settings (desirable)
- Knowledge of how to build inclusive, welcoming environments
- Skills in mentoring, coaching, or empowering others (desirable)
- An appreciation of infant mental health and the importance of early relationships.
- Familiarity with co-production and co-design principles.
