It was a joy to see smiles light up our clients’ faces as Donna, Boscombe Day Centre Manager, officially opened the brand-new Digital Sensory Room. The excitement in the air was palpable as everyone shared their ideas for how they’ll use this beautiful new space, truly the highlight of the launch morning.
From Vision to Reality
Over the past few weeks, what was once an ordinary room has been completely transformed through careful planning, creative collaboration, and partnership working. The new Digital Sensory Room is part of the ongoing Hub Model development at Boscombe Day Centre, a vision long championed by Donna. This transformation was made possible thanks to the creativity and dedication of our Trusted Reviewers, local interior designer Aless Clifton from Studio Trevow, and the many clients and staff who contributed their ideas throughout the process.

A Space for Calm, Connection, and Creativity
The Digital Sensory Room is a transformative and immersive environment designed to promote peace, relaxation, wellbeing, and mindfulness. It offers a truly multi-sensory experience, combining visuals, textures, sound, lighting, and scents to create a calming and uplifting atmosphere. Through an innovative blend of technology, music, and design, visitors can reconnect with cherished memories, explore meaningful places, and experience moments of joy and escapism. Each visit fosters mindfulness, creativity, and emotional wellbeing.
Looking Ahead
We were thrilled to welcome our local partners to the launch and to hear their inspiring ideas for how the space could benefit their organisations and the wider community. But this is just the beginning. As technology evolves and the needs of our users grow, the Digital Sensory Room will continue to adapt, eventually integrating AI-assisted features that allow individuals to tailor their experiences through music, visuals, and voice-controlled moods and scenes.

In the near future, the room will also open to the wider community as a bookable wellbeing and mindfulness space—an accessible and affordable way for people to enjoy mental rejuvenation. It will serve as a community hub for private hire, small group sessions, and wellbeing workshops. If successful, this innovative model could be replicated across other centres and adapted for different people and needs, such as neurodiverse individuals, through collaborative development with other day centres and care homes.
