This month, we would like to take a minute to appreciate our Community Hero in the Spotlight for February, Your Planet Doctors founded by Anne Hayden a local retired GP (pictured). Your Planet Doctors, set up in January 2020, is a group of like-minded individuals who care about our planet and everyone’s mental health.

Your Planet Doctors is not only about planting fruit and vegetables. It is about growing together to become self-sufficient and healthier community. Helping to slow down global warming, taking care of ourselves and encouraging bees and butterflies to join us again in our gardens.

Through their BCP Growers Group on Facebook they are encouraging people to make new friends, learn new skills, swap seeds with other members or take the first step into a new adventure. Welcoming everybody of all ability.

In partnership with Michael French, the founder of food charity ‘Grounded Community’ in Boscombe, Your Planet Doctors support everyone to form small neighbourhood communities of growers whether they are growing from their garden, from containers or even just from a yoghurt pot on a windowsill.

They believe that together, we can have an impact on making our communities more resilient, more sustainable and better prepared to face the challenges ahead.
