Community Resilience: what it means, why it matters, and how we can work together to strengthen our communities across the BCP area.
Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time. Being prepared reduces fear and builds confidence. Community resilience is about people helping people: using local knowledge, relationships, and resources to bounce back from disruption. This session on Community Resilience is led by Anita, Community Resilience Officer at BCP Council, for VCS groups (staff and volunteers) across the BCP Council area, especially those supporting vulnerable people.
Anita will:
• Explain what community resilience means in practice
• Share insights into local risks like flooding, wildfires, and power outages
• Identify tools and resources, including the Dorset Prepared website
• Provide practical advice on how to prepare and support others.
Please share this invitation with your networks. The more people we reach, the stronger and safer our communities will be.
