Course Description

Anyone who works or volunteers with children, young people or adults must have the knowledge and skills needed to help keep them safe. This training session introduces safeguarding for VCS groups. This is an intermediary course for those requiring a fundamental understanding of safeguarding (more than basic awareness).

Learning outcomes

Following this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe different types of abuse
  • Describe what ‘safeguarding’ means
  • Identify a range of safeguarding issues/concerns.
  • Describe what signs and symptoms to look out for
  • Recognise who might be affected by abuse and neglect.
  • Describe how and who to report a concern to
  • Share experiences and learn from peers
  • Understand the importance and relevance of your Safeguarding Policy.

Target audience

Open to paid employees and volunteers within VCS groups, who work with or come into contact with children, young people, and adults.

A vegetarian lunch will be provided for networking afterwards (from 1 – 2 pm).

Max 2 attendees per organisation. Restricted parking but there is a pay & display car park nearby.
