Lottery funding for ethnically diverse community groups

Published on 4 December, 2023

We’re thrilled to be leading a partnership with Dorset Race Equality Council, Dorset Community Foundation and BCP Council in a project that will help ethnically diverse community groups in BCP to be stronger, thriving and more sustainable. The successful bid for £500,000 to The National Lottery Community Fund will see us working together initially for 3 years, in work that will help ethnically diverse community groups overcome four key barriers through:

  • More funding and resources
  • Improving how they run their organisation
  • Improving how they run their services and activities
  • Being better recognised by, and working with, local agencies

We will do this with:

  • A team of workers, based with Dorset REC, who will work alongside groups, and help them agree and carry out, an action plan.
  • Expert advice from CAN on how to run a charity or voluntary group and attract funding.
  • Small, easy grants from DCF and The National Lottery Community Fund to help them develop their group
  • Training, meetings, and networking for groups
  • Sharing details of local experts that can help the development of their organisation.

CAN is leading on recruitment and the new job roles will be advertised from 2nd January so watch this space.

More details about the work and updates will be shared in 2024.
