Staffie and Stray Rescue are a family-run dog rescue based in Bournemouth and one of our Community Heroes in the Spotlight for August. Now in its 10th year of operating, they have rehomed over 800 dogs. They specialise in the often misunderstood breed, the Staffordshire bull terrier, although any breed needing help is welcomed through their doors.
Dogs come to the rescue for a range of reasons. The rescue also helps stray dogs and works with authorities such as local councils, the police and social services. Staffie and Stray Rescue use boarding kennels and rely on dedicated volunteers to foster dogs waiting for their forever homes. With fostering, the rescue covers all costs for the dog, such as food, vet bills, toys, bedding – anything the dog might need.
The team at Staffie and Stray Rescue pride themselves on offering support 24/7 to all of their foster homes and adopter homes, offering training and advice to make dog ownership as smooth running as possible. For dogs from upsetting backgrounds, behaviour and settlement can be a challenge. In particular, unsocialised dogs can make dog walking difficult. With expertise in reactive dogs, Staffie and Stray Rescue are there for you!
Staffie and Stray Rescue have charity shops in Kinson and Wimborne which are open from Monday to Saturday. Selling items at bargain prices, they are worth a visit if you’re in the area!
- Kinson charity shop – 1516 Wimborne Road, BH11 9AE
- Wimborne charity shop – 19 Eastbrook Row, BH21 1HN
The next ‘Rehoming Parade’ where people can meet dogs who need a new home, will be on 20th October at Bluebirds Social Club, Ham Lane, Ferndown, from 10.15am.
The shops and parades are assisted by volunteers who kindly give up their time to support these dogs in need. If you would like to ‘join the family’, drop the team an email at Staffiesrescue@gmail.com to find out how you might be able to help.
