Empowering Conversations for Thriving Lives: Trusted Reviewers Project (TRP)

The TRP listens to people’s experiences in accessing day opportunities in the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole area. They look for ways that people can have greater control over their support and more opportunities to live fulfilling lives.

Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council commissioned CAN as part of their Fulfilled Lives Programme, which seeks to ensure people living with learning and physical disabilities, mental health conditions and older people have access to a variety of community care provisions that help them live as independently as possible.

“The trusted reviewers work sounds really good and it’s a ‘piece of the jigsaw’. We have to take all the positives in these initiatives, and let’s make it a bit cascading – what knowledge you gain to be spread out.”   Family Carer Forum member

The TRP aims to

  • Champion day-service users and activity providers.
  • Make it easier for people to know what community-based day opportunities are available to them and their families.
  • Share information, innovations and good practices.
  • Increase well-being and independence for people who receive care and support in the community.
  • Increase awareness and understanding of social care personalisation within the BCP area.
  • Develop a sustainable model for empowering people that can be adopted long term.

Five individuals stand in a line against a wood-paneled wall. They are all wearing casual clothing and have identification badges around their necks. From left to right, there are two women, then a man, followed by two more women. They are all smiling and appear to be in a casual setting.
